In a world filled with post-grunge sounds and many one-hit wonders, there
will come a sound from the depths of the genius mind which will arise and
throw off the chains of crappy bubble gum pop music and replace in the
void a sound so well constructed and imaginative, that oneself can
drown in the music. This will be Anastassia Skye, a neo-classical
rock band, influenced by the likes of Monster Magnet, Ulrich Roth, Yngwie
Malmsteen and above all, Scorpions.
"And what is the average wind speed velocity of an unladen
swallow?" you might ask yourself. And then you might also ask, "What is
Anastassia Skye?" Well, I'll tell you... {singing}"He's going to
tell, he's going to tell..."
Not like that!!! Not like that!!!
Anastassia Skye is a conceptual band I have at the moment. Currently I
have written about 13 songs with potential to be completed. One song
which I have named "Katzenjammer" will be more like a blues song, but the
rest will tend to be more of a blend between strong rhythm parts, blues
and classical scales. The guitars I am currently using are a Montclair
electric guitar (I've never seen another Montclair anywhere) and a Vantage
electric bass (the body is deep blood red). I hope to eventually get a
Fender Stratocaster guitar for lead guitar work, and for rhythm guitars
I'd like to get a Les Paul and Flying V (both made by Gibson).
UPDATES
I renamed a song which used to be called "Just Leave Me Alone", and now
the new name is "Power Trip". I threw away the old rhythm part during the
verses and invented a new one which is in it's embryonic stages right now.
MUSICAL INFLUENCES
My primary influence is the band Scorpions. I listen to that band more
than all other music combined. Also I'm influenced by Ulrich Roth,
Monster Magnet, ZZ Top, and a bit from other bands. Lately
I've begun listening to Yngwie Malmsteen, the Swedish guitar legend. He's
one of the few musical artists who can keep a fairly consistent sound over
his albums, unlike some bands whose sound evolves into other forms (which
may be for the better or for the worse). I can listen to Yngwie's recent
work and listen to his earlier work and it definitely sounds similar. The
great part is that he can still come up with great songs over and over
again...not just the same material rehashed and spit out.
I've been listening to a fair bit of Pink Floyd lately, especially to the
album Division Bell. A sound I'd like Anastassia Skye to have
would be like the songs "Cluster One", "High Hopes", and "Marooned".
