Albums

Anastassia Skye has released no albums so far, but several demo songs are available now. Approximately 40-50 songs are in partial construction and may or may not be completed at one point or another. There is enough material for the first two albums, and a few extra bits which will appear on later albums. However, on a positive note, the first five albums have already been planned, and from there only time will tell.

Anastassia Skye is projecting to have its first album Sailing to the Sun out by the late 21st century (at this rate). However, the real recording process will probably not begin until enough time, money, and other resources have been compiled together so a digital studio can be constructed. Take this all with a grain of salt, since recording and the album release may be forced back as far as the year 2099 (or so).

Sailing to the Sun

Sailing to the Sun will contain 9-10 songs, starting out with two good old fashioned rock songs, then slowing down before starting back up to a climatic, epic-length song.

  1. Scorpio Temple - Monster Magnet type rock song
  2. Time to Change - A mesh between Scorpions' "Someone to Touch", "Life Goes Around", "Big City Nights", and "Raised on Rock" with a dash of Axel Rudi Pell's "Run With The Wind"
  3. Nothing & Nameless - One of the earliest ballads, inspired by Scorpions' "Send Me An Angel"
  4. Coma Down - Think Matthew Sweet + Dandy Warhols + Foo Fighters. Working title was: Odd Chord Song
  5. Burning Bush - Rock song with Electric Sun and Bush type vibe
  6. Katzenjammer - Blues influenced song, thanks to ZZ Top influences.
  7. Taken By Storm - Influenced by Scorpions and MSG
  8. The Apparition - Atmospheric interlude
  9. Drifting Haze - "Drifting Sun" + "Purple Haze" = Drifting Haze (Actually, this song is modeled closer to Scorpions' epic song "Lonesome Crow".)
  10. Coma Down (Reprise) - Time for a downer. Think Uli Roth + Dandy Warhols + Soundgarden.

Djinn's Prophecy

The second album will be more of a straight-up rock & roll album with some rockers and a few slower songs. There will be ~11 songs on this album, featuring Anastassia Skye's current magnum opus, "Power Trip" (no relation to the Monster Magnet or Soundgarden songs of the same name). Here is a tentative overview of the second album:

  1. Written In The Sand - Intro
  2. Dark Hand - A chunky rock song, influenced by Axel Rudi Pell's song "Touch the Rainbow"
  3. Power Trip - The mutant child of Scorpions' "Wild Child" and "Alien Nation"
  4. Remember - A ballad inspired by the chords of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and Scorpions "Under the Same Sun"
  5. The Dragon & The Scorpion - A song with a slight Middle Eastern tone to it which resulted from listening to Scorpions' "Mind Like A Tree".
  6. He Who Is Left Behind - Someone thought this song sounded like Metallica, but this idea was hatched after listening to Axel Rudi Pell's song "Casbah". The lyrics to this song are part fantasy, and partly about isolation.
  7. Faith, Hope, & Charity - Another ballad, with more Scorpions undertones, and some indirect Led Zep influences ("Tangerine")
  8. Towers of Hanoi - Instrumental
  9. Eye of the Shadow - A riff that sounds like a mixture between Scorpions "No Pain, No Gain" and Axel Rudi Pell's "(Don't Trust the) Broken Promises".
  10. Trial By Fire - Another Pell-influenced song, sort of a mix between "Casbah", "The Masquerade Ball", and "Tales of the Crown". It starts off with a slower, acoustic-type piece (similar to "Casbah"), but then it kicks into a harder, dissident chord riff (similar to "The Masq. Ball"), but then lulls into a slower part, reminiscent of "Tales of the Crown".
  11. Etched In Stone - Outro

Skye Suite Vol. I: Cosmos & Chaos

The next three albums will be a trilogy, tentatively dubbed the Skye Suite, but originally given the moniker the Edenwaith Trilogy. This trilogy of albums will cross over several genre's of music from classical music to industrial rock. The first album will be dubbed Cosmos & Chaos, and will contain heavily classical influenced songs and solos (such as Rondo Alla Paganini) and other symphonic elements. The second album will be Oracle , and this album will be more of a standard rock n' roll album, reminiscent of the first two A.S. albums. The final album will be more of a darker hard rock and industrial rock album, titled Slave to the Machine or Sklave zur Maschine. This will be a concept album, concentrating on how the mob of society works together in a fairly brainless fashion. Think Metropolis and 1984 meets The Wall.

  1. The Transit of Venus - Instrumental which initially was influenced from the solo of Metallica's "The Day That Never Comes" and Michael Montes' "Journey", but it has taken on a more epic tone in the style of Therion's "The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah".
  2. Rondo Alla Paganini - A short, classical collage, inspired by the works of Mozart and Paganini.
  3. Gemini Cadenza: Castor - A classical bent instrumental piece (formerly Classica Opus #2).
  4. Gemini Cadenza: Pollux - Brother piece to Gemini Cadenza: Castor
  5. Pedal Paraphrase - An Yngwie/Uli influenced melody which makes use of a lot of pedal tones.
  6. Suicide Is Painful - An acoustic piece, the beginning which reminds me of the theme song to M.A.S.H.
  7. Untitled Ballad
  8. ACGFG Ballad 1 - A ballad based upon the chord progression A-C-G-F-G
  9. Solyris - Cadenza piece influenced by Lori Linstruth and Uli Jon Roth.
  10. Cassini: The Final Voyage - Epic-style song in the vein of Axel Rudi Pell's "Into the Storm" and Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited".

Skye Suite Vol. II: Oracle

  1. Toll of Westminster - A short instrumental opener
  2. 5 A.M. SAM - A nice loud song which was written in the summer of 1999 after listening to Talisman's "Humanimal".
  3. Mano Cornuto - Another Scorpions-influenced riff, brought on after listening to a demo cut of Scorpions "New Generation", but this song also seems to have elements of Yngwie Malmsteen's "Evil Eye".
  4. A Hero's Quest - A mixture between Axel Rudi Pell's "The Gates of the Seven Seals", Yngwie's "Stronghold", and Scorpions' "China White".
  5. Ashes of the Phoenix - A chord-based song, which sounds a bit like acoustic Led Zep or Bad Company at the beginning before kicking into a harder riff, similar to Axel Rudi Pell's "The Masquerade Ball", "Legions of Hell", or "Living For the King".
  6. Devil In My Mind - Strongly influenced by early Yngwie.
  7. Rock & Roll Hurricane - A catchy rocker, in the same realm as the Michael Schenker Group's "Are You Ready To Rock?"
  8. Untitled - A little different fare which is more like Tom Petty on steroids
  9. Meth Mouth - Instrumental song with touches of Yngwie and MSG's "Into the Arena".
  10. Live Strong, Die Free - A mix between Judas Priest's "Painkiller" and Hekz's "Exodus".
  11. Hymn to the Sun - A ballad inspired by the Scorpions songs "House of Cards" and "The Good Die Young".
  12. Crusaders of Light - Chugging power metal in the vein of Hammerfall and Axel Rudi Pell, with flavors of the Black Sabbath song "Heaven and Hell".

Skye Suite Vol. III: Slave To The Machine (Sklave zur Maschine)

  1. The March & The Hatred - The opening song to Skye Suite Vol. III: Slave to the Machine which starts with a droning march before breaking into the main riff.
  2. Loneliness - An odd, slow, but dissident riff, remniscent of Alice in Chains.
  3. My Name Is Bitch - A pretty little song to listen to when you are being abused.
  4. Untitled - A nice, droning riff with touches of Judas Priest, Monster Magnet, and Led Zeppelin-type breaks.
  5. Monotony - Another dark and droning number, a mix between Megadeth's "When" and Alice In Chains' "Frogs".
  6. Untitled - Hammerfall-like chugging riff.
  7. Untitled - Has a Judas Priest "Spectre" feel with touches of Megadeth and Scorpions.

Of course these are all tentative ideas at this point, and all, none, or some of this may occur someday. To be fair, expect Diablo III to come out first before any substantial work from Anastassia Skye arises. [Note: Considering that Diablo III was announced in 2008 and released in May 2012, this prediction turned out to be true.]
